GARETH SOUTHGATE is on the look-out for a new England coach, with the main goal being to ‘win the 2022 World Cup’.

The FA have posted a job vacancy on their website for an ‘out-of-possession’ expert to help the Three Lions dominate in a lesser talked-about area.

But it seems Southgate is also concerned with how his stars react without the ball, with the candidate needed to ‘develop and practically deliver comprehensive, world leading out-of-possession strategies’.

The coach in question will focus on England’s development teams, showing there is a clear push for change from those at the top of the pile at St George’s Park.

Many believe there needs to be a move away from long-ball football for kids and instead focus on organised, ball-playing tactics.

The advert continues: “[You will] work with other coaches to develop detailed positional role profiles for the out-of-possession models and contribute to individual position specific training programmes and team game plans that improve player techniques in and out of possession for England teams.

“[You will] develop world leading defensive set piece strategies and tactics. [You will] develop an evidence base for your work through analysis and coding and the development of metrics and statistics to track team and player performance.”

But not just anybody can apply for the job, with the FA wanting ‘an outstanding coach with a track record of consistent and successful management and development of players, elite coaches and staff in an Academy or other elite environment’.
