IRELAND’s hopes of co-hosting the World Cup with England in 2030 could by torpedoed by crackpot North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un.

Tubby despot Kim has yet to respond, but may well be interested after both countries successfully held the Winter Olympics at the southern ski resort of Pyeongchang.
South Korea’s sports minister Do Jong-hwan said: “We heard that China is going to make a bid to host the World Cup.
“But we want to make a proposal of co-hosting the event with Asian neighbours like North Korea, China and Japan.
“In this way, we can maintain the current atmosphere of peace and can connect north-east Asia peace with peace on the Korean Peninsula.”

The English FA is already examining the possibility of applying along with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
At the moment, the FAI has not been contacted about taking part, but the British may need Ireland on board to make their bid work.
On Sunday, MEP Sean Kelly said the World Cup final could be held at Croke Park as it’s a better venue than London’s Wembley Stadium.
Kelly was Association President in 2005 when Rule 42 was relaxed to permit soccer at GAA HQ.
